Getting Around

Las Vegas McCarran International Airport is a mile east from the southern end of the strip and about four miles from downtown. Some Hotels does offer free shutter service for their guest, So be sure to check with the hotel before you book, you can save the hassle to find your own transport to the hotel if they are providing this service. However if your hotel does not provide this service, you may book a Airport Shuttle Service at Bell Trans.

In Summer it's very hot to walk more then a few minutes more on the streets. A car is proof to be invaluable. Public Transport does exist but to a first time traveler it's not the best method unless you are the adventures type of person. They have a Las Vegas Monorail that run along the eastern side of the strip from the MGM Grand to the Sahara, but doesn't go as far as from the airport to downtown.

Although there's a visitor center at the Convention Center, 3150 Paradise, at about half a mile east of the strip, it's too far to travel by foot. Other source of information can be found at Las Vegas 24 Hours

Accommodation

Although Las Vegas has well over 135,000 motel and hotel rooms, It's best to book a Discount Hotel ahead if you are on a tight budget or you are arriving during the so call peak period ( Friday & Saturday ) as it's expected to have hundreds and thousands of people entering the city every weekends. The hotel in Las Vegas no longer offer incredible cheap deals during weekends. It is true that members do get hotel rooms for free. But to be considered as their member, you have to commit to gambling several thousands of dollars

Some hotel may charge you different rates everyday depending on the day of the week and what's going on in the town. So be sure to check the hotel rates carefully and lookout for any discount.

The City

Although Las Vegas measure 15 miles wide by 15 miles long, most tourists only stick to the 6 miles stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard. The Strip, home to the major casinos and the downtown area. In between lie 2 seedy miles of gas station, fast-food drive-in, and weeding chapels, while the rest of the town is largely residential area.

Each casino is self-contented fantasy land of high genuine excitement. Huge attractive moving walkways sweep you in from the sidewalk, almost against your will. Once inside, it can be almost impossible to find your way out. The action keeps going day and night, and in this sealed and windowless environment, you rapidly lose track of time. Even if you manage to get back on the streets during the day, the scorching heat is capable to drive you straight back in. Night is the best time to venture out, when the neon's blazing at it's brightest.

Paris

With a half size Eiffel Tower straddling the Arc de Triomphe and the opera beside Paris, it does feel a little compress. It includes a fine top-notch french restaurant for anyone who likes french food. Elevators soar through the roof of the casino and up to the summit of the Eiffel Tower. Chose after dark for best view.

Caesars Palace

The long established Caesars Palace still encapsulates Las Vegas at it's best. Past the endless grand marble staircase. There's a full-size replicas of Michelangelo's David to a vast labyrinth of slots. Peopled by strutting half-naked Roman centurions and cleopatra cropped waitress. The blue color dom ceiling that dims and glow at it's endless cycle. While the animatronic status that top its ornate fountain comes to life at a regular intervals. The family oriented Circus Circus uses live circus show to attract visitors, a trapeze artist here, a fire eater there. They also have America's largest indoor theme park called the Adventuredome.

As recent as 1990s, restaurant is almost non existent, and the only quality restaurant were Italian places well away from The Strips. Today, the situation has reversed as the casinos are competing to attract the best culinary from all over the country. You may also find tourist come to the city specially to taste the best food in US without having to reserve table or paying sky high price. You can be almost certain to find a good restaurant in your own hotel.

Almost every casino features an all-you-can-eat buffet. They offer not so great cooking but fast food to tourist. There are plenty of Bars scattered around the casino. If you are just looking for a drink there are retro style to rock to quieter Bars and Clubs to suit your style.

Getting Wed in Las Vegas

Other then making a fortune, it's also a popular destination for getting married in Las Vegas. You don't have to be a local resident or need to take blood test to get wed here. So long as both of you are above 18 years old and carrying your picture ID, Simply turn up at Clark Country Marriage License Bureau and buy a marriage license for $55 each and walk over to the Clerk Country Court House and be married by the Commissioner or Civil Marriages.

Graceland Wedding Chapel Home of The King. An Elvis impersonator will act as best man, give the bride away, or serenade you.

Little Church of The West The fifty years old church has moved down the strip to south of Mandalay Bay. This is a quiet and more peaceful place to exchange your vows if you prefer.

Little White Chapel for those in a major hurry. This is the place where some major star like Bruce Wills and Demi Moore, Michael Jordan and Joan Collins and also Britney Spears and Jason Alexander in 2004.
